Make MPs see that concrete chess sets are not good value for tax payers money.

I played my last competitive OTB game in December 2008. I had been in the top 10 (played board 5 but some of the better players didn't play looking back on it) in Yorkshire for my age at 16/17.
I did like not play for the season before that because doing good sales job.
Even NONE LEAGUE FOOTBALLERS get paid to play.
I remember chucking in my £2 after a draw with white against a decent local player. I thought... 25 years old and I'm still PAYING TO PLAY...
If I come back to OTB chess and I prob will I'll have to pay to play.
Some of this funding should reduce costs on tax paying chess players.

Huddersfield Library has a Saturday chess team and numbers doubled plus to 12-18 when they played in the main library. They had 30 last weekend for their first unrated rapidplay. If they see it, they will come.
But...
I might visit sometime...

Huddersfield main library where it USED to be has 2 chessboards outside...
When I was like 14/15 I used to beat up players there... well there might have been 1 who was as good as me
Drew quite a crowd...
Obvs only v little comp analysis then... and the players weren't that good...
A much more pragmatic investment in terms of the money spent would have been to SPONSOR me But I'm still here...
PS I've never seen those chess boards used for actual chess for many many years.
Very likely I've found a good club to play for in Hudds chess league. Training continues.

Healds Hall Food Review
So...
This gets 8/10 from me.
Good decent Yorks restaurant.
Obvs I would not pay for it myself yet this my mum's 70th Birthday.
Decent food, decent value for money if you like restaurants. A little slight damage to the table is the only bad thing I can say.
Pictures of Mark Howitt Chess Training
I taught my niece a quick chess lesson yesterday. My nephew is only 3 yet wanted to learn too so watched and moved the pieces around a little.
This was after the meal at Healds Hall- full review to follow probably today yet it was 8/10. Have to say though the meal went on a bit longer then I thought- not restaurant's fault. Hence I was a bit tired. Travelled to Oakwell Hall after that which I did not expect. Had to walk to Oakwell Hall then find a room. Did so- assistants there were fine.
So because of my tiredness it was only a quick session. My niece is only 5. She picked up how the pieces moved pretty quickly. I demonstrated how the queen, rook and bishop moved. Showed her on empty board. She moved them around. Picked it up pretty quick. My nephew did a little too.
So anyway... tired after this. Guess it takes a while to digest food had been out last night.
My niece had a question though. In a phone call earlier she said she thought she could beat her brother. I asked if she thought she could beat me. She said she thought she could. I told her she couldn't...
Anyway, the chess lesson was over. "But there has to be more to it than that... what's the aim?"
"Well there are the black pieces and the white pieces. And the goal is to kill the enemy king."
I told her her mother could get her a chess board if she was interested.
