There are very fine margins involved in chess.
For example if Peter Hepworth or Greg Eagleton could have been persuaded to play one more game Hudds would have been promoted.
If Huddersfield had WANTED me to play in the last game and I had a small cash incentive from my sponsor Dean Staveley I probably would have won and Huddersfield would have been promoted. I have beaten two of the players playing for Calderdale B before.
That's life I guess.............. if you know what I mean Stevie?
I still intend to play OTB for Hudds.
Re: Yorkshire league 24/25 season
It was a surprise result with Huddersfield. Gives me a slight headache as there is a strong cross over between Huddersfield and Holmfirth usually. We won't be able to send them players this next season and several will have to choose which squad they want to be in. On the plus side, lots of local matches! Will have a chat with Leo and Alec tonight in our Calderdale League match.

The practical solution to the commendable proliferation of W Yorkshire teams is definitely to have a few of them register as paired A/B teams. It's just a pure win on practical terms. You can still run both teams to the same standard, you just can't send boards 1-4 of the 'A' team down to play for the B.
