Supergirl

Verse 1] You can tell by the way she walks that she's my girl You can tell by the way she talks, she rules the world You can see in her eyes that no one is her chain She's my girl, my supergirl [Chorus] And then she'd say, "It's okay" "I got lost on the way, but I'm a supergirl" And supergirls don't cry And then she'd say, "It's alright" "I got home late last night, but I'm a supergirl" And supergirls just fly And supergirls don't cry And then she'd say, "It's alright" "I got home late last night, but I'm a supergirl" And supergirls just fly [Verse 2] And then she'd say that nothing can go wrong When you're in love, what can go wrong? And then she'd laugh the night time into day Pushing her fear further along [Chorus] And then she'd say, "It's okay" I got lost on the way, but I'm a supergirl" And supergirls don't cry And then she'd shout down the line Tell me she's got no more time 'Cause she's a supergirl And supergirls don't hide And then she'd scream in my face And tell me to leave, leave this place 'Cause she's a supergirl And supergirls just fly [Outro] Yes, she's a supergirl, a supergirl She's sowin' seeds, she's burnin' trees She's sowin' seeds, she's burnin' trees Yes, she's a supergirl, a supergirl A supergirl, my supergirl

Marlon Roudette Lyrics "When The Beat Drops Out" When the beat drops out And the people gone We still be there, still be there For me child And When the lights go out And the morning come We still be there, still be there For me child When the beat drops out... Life, happens when you're making plans Flying high and shaking hands The song will write you, you don't write it I, didn't mean to fall in love This rhythm that created us I was running, we collided Baseline, I will always make time, I just wanna know that feelings in your heart for me Baseline, after all the great times, I just wanna know that feelings in your heart... When the beat drops out And the people gone We still be there, still be there For me child When the lights go out And the morning come We still be there, still be there For me child When the beat drops out And the people gone We still be there, still be there For me child When the lights go out And the morning come We still be there, still be there For me child When the beat drops out... With you, I found a new way to live I see an alternative Now we started, we can't stop it I, I didn't mean to fall in love Last thing I was thinking of Was you and me but, we collided Baseline, I will always make time, I just wanna know that feelings in your heart for me Baseline, after all the great times, I just wanna know that feelings in your heart... Baby you're a rich man too

"Baby, You're A Rich Man" How does it feel to be One of the beautiful people? Now that you know who you are. What do you want to be? And have you travelled very far? Far as the eyes can see How does it feel to be One of the beautiful people? How often have you been there? Often enough to know What did you see when you were there? Nothing that doesn't show Baby you're a rich man Baby you're a rich man Baby you're a rich man too You keep all your money in a big brown bag inside a zoo What a thing to do Baby you're a rich man Baby you're a rich man Baby you're a rich man too How does it feel to be One of the beautiful people? Tuned to a natural E Happy to be that way Now that you've found another key What are you going to play? Baby you're a rich man Baby you're a rich man Baby you're a rich man too You keep all your money in a big brown bag inside a zoo What a thing to do Baby, baby you're a rich man Baby you're a rich man Baby you're a rich man too Baby you're a rich man Baby you're a rich man Baby, baby you're a rich man too (fade out)

Live YOUR Life

So...
One of these blasting things out of my head posts...
Lots of things going on... and the UK NEEDS to get back to normal ASAP.
This situation is not right and everyone needs to act to get back to normal now.
> Which... Brings me to this...
You have to decide what YOU want in life and then do it and live it. I do like writing... and I guess others like it now since I've got over 135,000 views on this website...
Please donate or support me in some way so I can write more... I am available for copywriting. May be doing a project with Dean Staveley soon, will keep you updated on that...
A lot of people don't know what they want. A lot of people conform to society. In my life I won't. Life actually is too short. You live it once then you're gone. Don't live your life being a sheep. That's not really living. Don't believe shit that the BBC might try and force feed you. Find out things for yourself and make up your own mind.
British people must get back our freedom which has been ours for years. I have looked into various aspects of this virus a LOT (probably too much... gets quite depressing)... but let's just say China COULD have made it deliberately... there are lots of things you can do to research this if you like. So yeah... I do like writing... felt like blasting this out... I know Mark Howitt is not for everyone... and as a writer... hmmm... Maybe I will only truly be judged when I die... Who knows... Surreal to think that people in countries all over the world do read this now... May have more to inform you on Yorkshire Water too... I have lots of things I can show you guys... some I keep secret... but before I die... all will be revealed... Thank you for reading and supporting me! Keep doing your goals!

Get Out Of The Grip

So...

This post been on my mind a while... time to blast it out...

Britain needs to GET OUT OF THE GRIP of this virus...

For most people, this virus is just like a bad cough or flu even if they catch it. Some people don't even have any symptoms when they have it.

So many hours of looking into all this...

There could well be other reasons behind this virus than what the mainstream media are telling you. Cashless society... who benefits from that? Big business.

What I do know is that the economic damage the virus is causing will kill more than the virus itself. I have read suicides are up over 200% since the virus. Many operations in hospitals are being cancelled which is leading to deaths.

We can see now that very few people are dying from the virus in the UK- and readers in the UK should know for example in countries in Eastern Europe very few people have died overall. Sweden had very little restrictions on people and few deaths.

If you look at places where there has been a higher than average death toll in the UK you will find that is in areas of dense population and with higher than average ethnic minority populations.

One key priority for the UK must be to reduce illegal immigration- at times hundreds of illegal immigrants are flooding across the English Channel every day. As British taxpayers we must not provide these illegal immigrants with four star hotels. The reason that these illegal immigrants are fleeing from France is because they give them very little- if we stopped then less would come here.

Everyone should take action to get back to normal as quickly as possible. Our nation depends on this.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
I gave up on time
Just like you said you would
There are tiny cracks of light underneath me
And you say I got it wrong
But I tried hard to uncover them

[Verse 2]
I have somehow got
Away with everything
Anything you ever did was strictly by design
But you got it wrong
And I'll go anywhere but there

[Pre-Chorus]
And you had best believe
That you cannot build what I don't need
And I know I need to feel relief
And I know you'll never fold
But I believe nothing that I'm told
And I know I need to feel relief

[Chorus]
I know I need to feel released
Take care to tell it just as it was
Take care to tell on me for the cause
I know I need to feel released
Take care to bury all that you can
Take care to leave a trace of a man

The Road to 130,000...

So...

Blasting this one out quickly...

Chris Bailey basically just gagging for another post to celebrate 130,000... the other one wasn't enough...

Hmm...

When I was four I wrote a poem and it got published in the paper. "Trains go fast, trains go slow, Trains take you anywhere you want to go, They travel through the woods, they travel through the world..."

This writing is for all my readers who've been with me for time...

In terms of people who've read what I've written in all different... platforms... it's over half a million...

Just because I don't write here every day doesn't mean I'm not writing or doing things... lots of things are going on...

Writing is just one way of doing what I want really... and this world isn't all nicey nice to someone who just wants to write in peace.

Still, people know about my writing... in some ways people like... even in some ways others... fear is a bit too strong of a word but they want to limit it...

That will never stop me writing what I want... yet have to be tactful...

Anyway may well be able to write about more things publically soon... stay tuned...

130,000 The Right People...

So...

Ideas just flooding into my mind...

This is the 130,000 post... and it's a bit early...

Yet if you've got an idea on your mind... just dive right into it...

So I've had a goal of 'mutual fulfillment with high value people' for years now...

And I'm lucky to have some very good people in my life...

Really the goal should be now... spend more IN PERSON time with those high quality people...

Had quick in person meeting with Dean Staveley yesterday...

Britain is getting out of the grip of this virus... roads are much busier now than they were weeks ago...

When I'm with high quality people I will always aim to pack in as much value as I can...

Like probably one of my favourite ways of chatting with people is like text conversation in some way. I will usually just aim to start typing as quickly as possible with the ideas in my head...

Most of the people I do that with... they're smart enough to go back and review it...

I know I do with the elite people I talk to...

However...

There's also a certain energy you get from meeting high quality people in person you don't get from just text...

So I want and need to do that more...

Wrong people... NO TIME for them. Could be even worse than that. Trust your instincts on this.

So... yeah...

Blasting this out quick before goals... thanks for reading!

Writer if Not Paid?

Quickly blasting this out...

Hmms...

He prob gets too much FREE publicity but just thinking about something Chris Bailey said...

You're only a writer (he might have said pro writer) if you get paid for it... it's a hobby if not.

Maybe true, maybe not.

In this consumer we'll tax you for everything society... it helps to get paid...

However...

You may be just blasting something personal out that you want to... in the flow not wanting money.

You might write about things that are not 'monetizable'...

You may have ENOUGH money not to even need money to write... I'm more or less at that stage... sure I wouldn't turn down money for writing but even with my paid writing... it's like I would never write anything I didn't want to even if I was getting paid...

Anyways.. paid or not I still like writing... lots to do today... connect with me personally if you feel we can add value to each other :).

I may well do an interesting 130,000 post...

I have been writing for my Facebook friends more... it's part of my strategy to provide value for those who give me value...

If you are are cool and think we could bring each other mutual fulfillment.. add me on Facebook ;)

Still available for paid writing... may look into this more.

As A Writer I Will Not Be A Sheep

So...

Hot here in the UK... quite hard to sleep...

So that's mean you're getting a pure instinct article...

As a writer I will not be a sheep...

I've just finished rereading my Fool articles again...

And you know what... in a way I have to say the editor did a good job...

But... there will be no editing here...

So on the first article I said that I believed Boris Johnson would be the new Prime Minister... I think they edited that a bit. I believed I knew he would be and he did. Then the editing came in that I thought 'he could be' a better negotiator than May, something like that.

I think you'd have to be... very bad at negotiating to be as bad as May. I think will Johnson will be much better...

So... I mean that's what I actually think... I still think that article is good overall though...

It's like... as a writer, taxpayer and just person I will not just be a taxpaying sheep. My sister gets paid FAR MORE than me in wages as a doctor... I can't spend my life just paying her wages if the NHS is wasting money treating people who haven't paid money in. That's just stupid and wouldn't happen in most EU countries...

Some public sector workers do a good job (my sister is actually a good doctor, pays out of her own money to go to foreign countries and helps people)... but others are... lucky to be in a job for life...

I think a lot of public sector workers would have quite a shock trying to work in the private sector. I mean... I reckon a lot of them wouldn't last long...

Yep... it's like I've been doing a few online chats today... talking about how "I wanted to be a writer since I was young"...

I said... I'm good but it's hard to get paid for it.

Actually got published aged 4 in The Huddersfield Examiner...

Don't buy the Examiner now though... because it's Labour owned...

Sorry Robert Sutcliffe... lols.

It's like... 35 now... still a writer.

I'm getting too old to pull punches... I have to deliver realness... even if some people don't like it.

There's too much unskilled labour from the EU (and other parts of the world)... this drives British wages down. Britain is overpopulated too...

It's quite a hard balance being a share investor, writer... and just Mark Howitt, British.

But unskilled (and criminal) immigration needs to be dealt with.

***

A lot has changed in shares since then... yet I'm still investing... feel free to contact me.

Lyrics

Gareth Emery Lyrics
"Concrete Angel"
(feat. Christina Novelli)

Let me breath you in
And breath the words in your mouth
Inside your shivering, the silence shouts so loud
I just want to, I just want to stay around
And while my heart beats I promise I won't let you down.

If I'm somewhere else it doesn't mean that I don't see
That you don't trust yourself, that's why you don't trust me
It makes me crazy, when you're crazy, you don't speak
You think you know me, but what you know is just skin deep.

If you keep building these walls
Brick by brick towers so tall
Soon I won't see you at all
Till the concrete angel falls
I knew who you were from the start
But now I don't know who you are
Soon there will be nothing at all
Till the concrete angel falls.

If you keep building these walls
Brick by brick towers so tall
Soon I won't see you at all
Till the concrete angel falls
I knew who you were from the start
But now I don't know who you are
Soon there will be nothing at all
Till the concrete angel falls.

Speed of Implementation

Quick post here... facebook exclusive for now...

Speed of implementation really is key to success. Being directly honest, it does frustrate me when I let know someone know an opportunity which could make them a lot of money for 2 mins of their time... and they take AGES to do it...

This applies in many areas of life overall. I don't really like Richard Branson but he did lots of things to try and make money BEFORE HE EVEN KNEW HOW to do them... and he's ended up a billionaire. Dan Pena is a billionaire too and says the same thing better...

I know with me personally if I have the chance to make money I will do it right NOW. Because every moment is a moment to make money...

Mrs Robinson

"Mrs. Robinson"

And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know, wo wo wo
God bless you please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray, hey hey hey
Hey hey hey

We'd like to know a little bit about you for our files
We'd like to help you learn to help yourself
Look around you, all you see are sympathetic eyes
Stroll around the grounds until you feel at home

And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know, wo wo wo
God bless you please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray, hey hey hey
Hey hey hey

Hide it in a hiding place where no one ever goes
Put it in your pantry with your cupcakes
It's a little secret, just the Robinsons' affair
Most of all, you've got to hide it from the kids

Coo coo ca-choo, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know, wo wo wo
God bless you please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray, hey hey hey
Hey hey hey

Sitting on a sofa on a Sunday afternoon
Going to the candidates' debate
Laugh about it, shout about it
When you've got to choose
Every way you look at it you lose

Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio?
A nation turns its lonely eyes to you, wo wo wo
What's that you say, Mrs. Robinson
'Joltin Joe' has left and gone away, hey hey hey
Hey hey hey

Copywriting

With COVID 19 still ravaging the world... I can increasingly see that online copywriting will become more and more valuable. More and more items will be ordered online and powerful copy to sell them will be even more potent.

I have this ability plus a long track record in sales. I will be expanding into this area more from now. Feel free to contact me if you think I can add value. For those who can add interesting experience to me I may even do some free copywriting!

125,000 Views... The Journey Continues...

So...

Blasting this out after hustling my goals hard...

In private you may know more of what I've been doing...

Every day goal day...

125,000 views isn't 25 million books sold like Bernard Cornwell. Reading more from him now... the amount of research he puts in... is a lot...

I was crying when I wrote the 100,000 views post. Because I wasn't sure I would make it... I was sure I'd reach this figure though...

I know there is so much more to come from me. I have to keep my mind sharp though. Bernard is still producing some of his best writing into his 70s. Warren Buffet made most of his money after 55. I have still to reach my peak in many areas...

I talk to a lot of quality people in many areas now... and they want me to win too. If you're a reader of this blog... and you're smart and interesting connect with me. We can add value to each other.

I'm still open to paid writing. Yet I have plenty of money so am not desperate.

It's like I'm reading Fools and Mortals... and it's like a different subject matter for Bernard... yet it's very interesting. You should check it out...

I can write on many different subject matters too... and you will see these... yet please remember to donate or add value to me if you can. Bernard evolved as a writer when many people would buy paper books. Hell knows even this tight fisted Yorkshireman has bought plenty of them... but it's harder to get published in paper now. If you value writing you must support writers.

Anyway... goal day. You know there is more to come and you will witness.

Virus

Interesting info thanks. What I've been saying to a lot of people is... cases of Corona depend on a lot on the population density...

And also to an extent how hot the temperature is. Not many deaths from it in the whole of Africa. Some people believe when the weather becomes warmer in the UK the deaths will decrease. Some doctors believe the virus cannot survive above a certain temperature.

Let's get right into this...

Another FREE quality article.

What does your capital allocation say about how you feel about shares?

Most people in the UK and worldwide know nothing or very little about shares directly. Of their own volition they probably have put no money in shares.

I reckon less than 10% of people in the UK have actively decided to put money into shares. It will be higher who have money in shares via a 'pension pot' though.

So... of those people... how many short shares? I reckon less than 1% of people in the UK short shares.

All that matters in shares is how much money you make. For many years I have just been 'long term buy and hold' and that generally is a fine way to do it. It beats cash in the bank...

However...

Obviously shares do not go up in a straight line. Over the last 2 weeks the FTSE 100 has fallen about 10%. In general with shares when there is a fall there is a steep fall...

So how much you have allocated in shares should reflect how confident you feel in your shares... and the economic situation as a whole.

Ben Graham's rule of thumb is interesting. He says that if you're 75% in shares you should be very positive about the market... if you're 25% in shares you're very negative about the market.

The thing is, even for say a year, it might not be a bad thing to have a high percentage of your wealth in cash. If you have 80% of your wealth in cash and quality shares drop say 30% then may be the time to pounce...

This has been on my mind quite a lot... let's see if I can get the right words out...

I think in general it would be BAD to have the vast majority of your wealth in cash for most or all of your life. Especially with interest rates as they currently are- in the UK you're lucky to get 1% in a savings account now and millions of people get nothing. How much you have in cash does depend to an extent how much interest rates are. If they were 10% then it might make sense to have at least 30% in cash, maybe more.

It will be a long time if ever if we see 10% in the UK though.

At the same time... ideally I don't think it's ALWAYS good to have a high percentage of your wealth, say over 75%, in shares. Because there are always sharp drops from time to time and then you can lose a lot of money. Warren Buffet has a ton of cash piled away right now to pounce on good shares. Who knows, maybe he is even buying right now, it could well be a good time to do so.

The amount of cash you have in shares depends on many things... and how much time you can dedicate to it. I dedicate quite a lot but I am not like Chris Bailey who regularly sleeps 3 or 4 hours a day then spends the vast majority of the rest of his time on shares. There are people who are better analysts of shares than I am in some ways. I still spend quite a lot of time on shares though and believe after almost twenty years in the game my instincts are good. There is always more to learn. As long as I have enough money I will be doing shares for the rest of my life.

Of course Ben Graham is dead now. In the 70s there were much better interest rates than there are now and in general it was harder for smaller or private investors to invest in shares.

In the current climate it can be tempting for people in the UK to have a high percentage of their money in shares. After all there are millions of people getting no money in interest from their bank.

Also you can obviously have money allocated to things other than 'cash and shares'. Off the top of my head there is cryptocurrency, gold, oil, property...

Most people at some point will have quite a lot of their money tied up in property because they need a house to live in. Property is a solid investment which over the long term consistently rises. I would like to invest in property more, although it is a different skillset and more challenging in some ways than investing in shares.

But how much should you have in shares as a percentage?

It depends how positive or good value you think shares are. However there are other ways to make money with shares. You can short them. I have just started doing and learning about this. Shorting a share or index is an expression of a negative attitude towards the markets.

In general you can say having money in shares is positive towards the market, cash is neutral and shorting is negative.

So your capital allocation should reflect your view on this. At some times it may be fine to have a decent amount of 'negative' attitude towards the market. Or stay 'neutral' with say 20% of your cash or more so you can pounce on good opportunities.

This article is one I just keep coming back to...

The key thing to remember about high yield shares is that plenty of opportunities will usually be there. OK so it can be a bit annoying perhaps thinking of having a lot of cash stuck making practically no interest.... and that interest being paid once a year. However shares with good yields can get even better. Look at Imperial Brands as a recent example.

Dividend cover is key... because remember a company can cut a dividend to nothing at an instant. Then you have a big capital loss AND no dividend. Look at Capita as an example. Even a good history of dividend payments can't stop a cut. I can see why some people want dividend cover to be two times cash available. I think I will look for at least 1.7 myself. You can look at 'free cash flow' and possible extra capex.

Imperial Brands btw... I bought more shares and think the share is really cheap at this price. A PE of 10.75 can EASILY go to 15 for a tobacco company and British Amercian Tobacco has traded at around a 20 PE. Imperial are saying they are going to increase the dividend by 10% per year too.

In fact I would rather have good dividend cover and a history of nice increasing yield than a very high dividend yield. It's down to 'free cash flow'... I probably should research this more in companies.

But they key point is... wait until you see a GREAT opportunity for either shares or spreads. Good opportunities will be there most days... great opportunities? If you know shares and spend a lot of time looking at the market hopefully you will see two a month, maybe more. Especially if you know a lot about shorting shares which I have plenty to learn about.

Real life examples...

I instinctively felt in 2016 that we would vote for Brexit yet I was stuck in my 'long term buy and hold' mindset. What I should have done before Brexit is selling practically everything then buy back shortly after Brexit when there were many great value shares.

People like Warren Buffet and Chris Bailey often have a sizeable amount of cash to pounce on good opportunities. Chris had quite a lot of cash available so has been able to take advantage of the recent downturn. I have less cash overall as a percentage but still may take advantage of it.

My Truth

So...

Instinctive idea for an article...

My Truth.

So I'm blasting out decent articles pretty much every day now... chatting to smart people, having some interesting conversations etc... may go into more detail with that later or in private...

My Truth.

So when I write I feel like like I'm blasting out my truth. Nobody can write the way like I can. Sure everyone is different. Every style is different. Yet there is only one Mark Howitt really...

Only I can write the Mark Howitt writing.

And people always have their opinions on it. A lot of people are impressed etc...

But it's kind of more interesting when people say how it could be better or if I added something in...

Yet it's like... when I'm in the flow of writing I never worry about what other people think. I just aim to deliver my realness. And that's the way it should be...

Society Must Return To Normal

As share investors we must aim for the UK to get back to normal as soon as possible...

So... been getting quite a few nice things being said about my last article... with even the esteemed Chris Bailey thinking it was of my best for a while...

Time to blast out a new one then!

I believe the UK must get back to work and start functioning as normal as soon as possible.

All these new 'laws' restricting movement etc are not natural and not sustainable.

The government cannot afford to just keep handing out cash for long. It will mean higher taxes later on...

For all businesses they NEED to get back to normal as soon as possible. There are different ways for people to die. People can die of hunger or depression. One nurse I read about committed suicide over the trauma of having to deal with the virus.

The economic hardship caused if we are on lockdown for too long will cause more deaths that the virus.

So let's be prudent yet aim to get back to work as soon as possible. And all UK share investors should advocate this...

What I Learned Working For British Gas

"If they've already got gas you've got a chance I guess."

My dad said that.

It was 2007. I had worked for Safestyle (will do another article on that in future... some experience...) and Fitness First where at one point I worked 14 days in a row to get the most sales. This was my third sales job.

I knew one guy called Richard Boylan who was a chessplayer who worked for British Gas. He had a nice car.

British Gas, aka Centrica, where far bigger than those companies though. I didn't know a lot about gas and electricity before I started... I knew a lot by the end.

So you were given sheets of paper stapled together and sent out to get sales. The sheets had letters by them- y for yes and n for no. A lot of people had gas with British Gas... but then a lot of them didn't have electricity. Some didn't have gas or electricity... this was called a dual fuel...

So I had a week shadowing other salesmen then on the Friday of that week I was sent half a day out on my own...

I took practically no days off. I didn't sell that many at the start. One day I talked to another young salesman... saying to him how I focused quite a lot on houses which had British Gas for gas... current customers should be easier to sell to right?

He said how he focused a lot on those who didn't have either. If they'd changed before they could change again. Plus it was 2 units, not 1.

Later that day I walked up to one house who practically rolled out the red carpet for me to switch her back to British Gas to both... she hated her current supplier.

I started getting more sales gradually.

British Gas actually cared about its salespeople. When you had a day's holiday they gave you average commission for that day. When the company put the prices up and people cancelled they still paid you for the sale. At first we were paid weekly, it turned to monthly later.

My best sales week was 47 units. It was 2008. British Gas had put the prices up, but then the other companies did too. There was a fixed price tariff which worked well. Unlike some other sales companies over a fairly low threshold British Gas paid for every sale- sometimes £20 per unit or more.

6 days a week selling that tariff... house to house. In my British Gas uniform, knowing the product knowledge. It was September 2008 and the weather was decent...

So what did I learn?

Hard work and doing lots of days is essential in sales. There were some people in my team even back then earning at least £60,000 a year selling gas and electricity. I was told that the best in the UK made over £100,000 doing it...

Brand is important. Everyone knew who British Gas was. You can have the best product in the world, but if people don't know or believe in your product you will not sell.

The more you do sales the more product knowledge you learn which is important. I knew a lot about the competition by the end- I worked for SSE and Npower later.

So yeah... lot more I could say and may do later.

I am available for interesting sales jobs now!

Chinese Virus

Remember that Italy and China are the countries worst effected in THE WORLD by the Chinese virus....

China could have stopped it better- the first case there was actually November. Apparently there aren't many/any new cases now...

Remains to be seen but the UK doesn't have to have it as bad as those countries...

Stay Positive and Avoid Hysteria Over Corona in the UK...

Blasting this one quick out early morning...

There is too much HYSTERIA in the UK over Corona currently...

There are 67 million people in the UK... or more... about 50 have died...

Those who have died have mainly been elderly. The youngest one was 59- and he had an 'underlying condition'.

Even IF someone gets the virus and is healthy/normal they will still survive.

Not trying to be harsh but an 87 year old with health problems would have died anyway fairly soon.

So...

What is important for the UK economy is not to be effected by HYSTERIA. If everything starts shutting down then people start losing jobs and real hardship starts happening.

Let's focus on getting back to normal as soon as possible.

Stay Tuned Fans...

Made nice tonuge in cheek comment in last article about how fans should 'stay tuned'...

Hmm..

Chris Bailey telling me to do free share writing...

I'm actually SURPRISED at some of the people who've read this blog. Bernard Cornwell has read it... Kevin Spraggett reads it quite a lot (one of the best chessplayers in the world in the 1980s... in the 1990s I thought GMs were like... higher beings)... I would guess some other chess GMs have read it too... I'm even notorious enough to be BLOCKED by Nigel Short on twitter... lols...

That's the thanks I get for one of my first proper chess books by being by him... I don't hold anything against Nigel though...

But yeah... I guess I am my biggest fan really... as I can remember all the good things I write...

Hmm...

This is not meant to be a brag post... blasting it out at 4:40 after hustling cash for hours... I'm thinking of moving less of my money away from shares WHEN they are fairly valued- there are lots of cheap shares around now. This virus thing is way over blown. More people die of the regular flu. Many more men take their own lives every day, you don't see the media chat about that...

Overall just too much hysteria.

Next time something like this happens though I want to be even MORE in cash than I was before this happened... and I was already a lot more in cash than most people. Ideally obviously would short some companies before... we'll see...

Ha... so yeah that's some FREE share content for you...

Maybe I do have some 'fans' who've read me before this blog... as I have written before this you know... starting from age four published in the paper...

If you count all the different forums and things...

250,000 share views on my articles...

With everything added together... all my views ever on all my writing... I would guess around 700,000...

I mean that's alright...

If I was a hot model I could get that in 10 snaps easily...

But I've always tried to stay true to myself. The truth is a lot of my writing is NOT for the masses. It's not... and I do say some things that might in effect cost me money or not be 'politically correct'...

People have used various words to describe me over time. Some nice, some nasty.

But at the end of the day I am just me. Mark Howitt. I guess I can only really be judged as a writer when I am dead. Everyone is free to have their own opinion of me. I've worked hard enough to not need the money to write now. I've never really directly paid anyone to 'teach me to write'... and as a message for young writers now you DON'T need to do that.

You do need to read a lot though... because other great writers are your best teachers for free. In the UK for sure going to uni to do an English degree is not the way to go. At all... too much leftist shit there to be frank...

You have to push yourself hard... because in this day an age being just a writer is not enough... unless you're one of the under 0.1% who makes good money from it... and even then for sure you need a lot more skills than JUST writing...

Because I've been thinking of a lot about this lately...

It's like a lot of how much money you get is how much value you provide to people and the connections you have with the right people. This can be done in many ways...

It's like I don't feel the need to buy hardly any books anymore... most people don't feel the need to buy my novel after all...

Anyway yeah... stay tuned... this is more an article for the die hard readers who've been reading me for years...

Balancing Act...

Life is a balancing act...

It's like... you have to push yourself hard in any area to be good or superb at it... yet at the same time other areas of your life may suffer because of this...

It's not like Bolt was the best sprinter in the world AND the best investor (although with what Visa paid him... he probably made more out of that deal than many investors)...

It's not like Warren Buffet is some superb athlete...

I think it's important for me to maintain some kind of balance though...

It's like... I push myself with writing... and I really like writing, love reading through some of the things I write...

I can manage and invest money in many different ways which is nice...

I know there are other areas of life though. I know money is worthless upon death.

Life is about doing what you want as much as possible... it's like... those peak experiences which matter most...

Protest Vote

Word up...

Quick post here... quick one that I will blast out.

IT'S A PROTEST VOTE!!

These people are UNEDUCATED. They... DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE VOTING. What they were voting for...

It's working class uneducated bad protest votes. It's...

POPULISM.

How fucked up is the actual word populism? All the political parties are trying to be popular. In fact the mainstream parties are more 'popular' than the less mainstream ones...

Just because someone did not vote the way that you voted does not mean that 'they did not know what they were voting for'. They just have a different WORLD VIEW to you.

In a democracy all votes count equally.

Everyone's doing what they think is best for themselves.

Style

Bernard says that style is something that can be applied at the later stages of writing. “The most important thing, the all-important thing, is to get the story right. Write, rewrite, rewrite again, and do not worry about anything except story. It is story, story, story.”

Yeah that's true... you've got to get the message out in whatever you're doing... then edit later... true writers know this...

Like don't even worry about spelling etc... Just get the content pure...

Classic Article

The Best Howitt Investor

"Even your Grandad had shares... not many, he was very careful with money."

My dad told me that.

It's not as if my dad spends a lot of money on himself either. He's always worked hard but never felt the need to buy anything flashy.

I asked him when he first bought shares. I think he said 15 or 16... I don't even know he managed to buy them at that age back then.

I was 15 years old. I didn't even really think about money really but I was careful with it. My dad said I had too much money in cash and should buy some shares. He gave me a share magazine to look at.

I didn't know anything about shares but started reading the mag. I chose Manchester United. "They will make money."

My dad looked at it and agreed. He bought some himself.

He had to basically open a share account in my name but I bought the shares with my own money.

I didn't even really look at the price but sold them for about a 200% profit.

I was 21 before I actually started to read about shares and learn about them. Started with a Fool book. Underlined a lot of that shit.

There is this concept called the wheel of life and money was part of it. I was still writing my novel at this time and really not into consumerism. Yet I started to accumulate money like a score in a computer game.

My dad never pushed me into being a share investor, not unless you count when I was 15. And that wasn't really a push, more a suggestion.

But now I do have a goal to be the best Howitt share investor. I know how hard my dad had worked for his money. And he has always given a lot away to charity.

I am my favourite charity. I don't give anything to beggars.

Also my dad will not buy any 'sin' shares. I will buy anything.

I hope that my lifelong dedication to shares and these edges will make me a better share investor than him. We will see.

Investing and Spending in Myself

Investing in yourself can be the best investment...

Thought about leaving it at that... but let's expand...

There is SPENDING money on yourself and INVESTING money in yourself...

To be honest lately I haven't done enough of either...

I'll never be a consumerist sheep chasing labels...

But buying interesting/nice food... I should do that more...

Buy a few more clothes... that I like... I don't care about 'brands'...

In terms of investing there are things I may do like buy a new phone and other things like that which could make more money in the future... I have plenty of cash to do this if I want...

I am fine with investing time and potentially travel money in meeting interesting people- I know quite a few already but open to meeting more...

Paid Writing

Getting decent views and likes on my posts/articles...

I personally like them too...

I'm going to try and get PAID probably on another website for doing some writing... and that is actually pretty tough to do! I may do some share writing but as long as I like the article and I get PAID I'm open to writing about many different subjects...

Make Sure You Deliver

Funny that sometimes I get the urge to write at night. Kinda brings it back to those times in a Leeds Uni computer lab. 3am was the only time there was ever relative quiet. 3am, you walk in the "24 hour computer lab". You get in the zone. You are ready to write some of your novel, and you will only go on the Japanese version of MSN-cunningly, some Oriental trickery had managed to get it on certain computers, while the English version was blocked for 'security reasons'- when you have written some more...

One time I got in the zone.... despite a bit of noise. Then a fat English guy asked "would I like a crisp".

For the record, I said no. I would not like a crisp.

Anyway.... making sure you deliver.

I'm pretty sure my goals for this year are on my mind all the time, consciously or subconsciously. Sometimes I think I am actually not doing my goals... maybe I am not thinking about them, maybe I am doing something else which is not actually relating to them. But then later that day usually I feel a bit bad for not making enough progress...

So I'm rereading my goal post now, it's already there in my mind though. The subconscious remembers everything important. Poker, wealth, sales... first two, you can basically work at and you will get there at least slowly but surely. And I have been doing- things have been going fine there. Occassionaly I think "yes.... things are going fine.... but are you really PUSHING THE ENVELOPE... pushing your comfort zone here?" Truth is, a lot of the times you just don't need to. There is no fancy magic behind getting rich or getting good at poker- you just have to do the same things a lot. I'm making money, the longer I live at the moment I will just make more money.

My poker is fine. I played one real nice technical hand today that actually worked on a deeper level than I thought it did- and I only realised that AFTER it happened. In chess you have to calculate everything out concretely usually... especially if you're trying an opening novelty. With this hand... over in a few seconds, the amount of conscious thought amounted to like... maybe 8 seconds. Made more money than in a long time of playing chess though. SCOOP is coming soon- I've won tickets and am probably going to play. When I was playing chess I felt inferior to anyone much higher rated than me really. In the SCOOP coming up I already know I am at the skill level of a SuperNova or above if I bring my A game- they just play more than I do! I've taken money off SuperNova elites at the table and some of the moves they made were really 'questionable' aka bad. Despite spending less time on poker I feel that I'll be making decent money from it.

Sales... it's a bit less concrete. There are certain things you can do in preperation and form filling that you can do to help and it's your responsibilty to get yourself in the right mindset. Sometimes though you'll put your best efforts in and it doesn't work, just because people are unreceptive. You have to have the mental strength to put in your peak performance on the next despite that.

Sales is still going fairly well though... but yeah, I know I can improve. And I will do.

Getting to know great people is harder to quantify and again sometimes you'll put energy into doing this and it won't come off. Even when I was writing that down as a goal I could tell that some people would read it and think... "Oh OK, he wants to get to know great people. Doesn't he know enough already? I think maybe he sounds a bit desperate... yeah, I will get back to watching the football highlights now." Maybe it would even put some genuinely high value people off too. Still wrote it down though, for the world to see.

Certainly helps in getting to know high value people that you have something of 'high value' to offer yourself. Just to clarify what I actually mean by high value in this context... it does not mean net wealth, although of course some (most?) of the people will already have that. Means high value overall. As a person.

Have I got enough high value to offer? I think I have in some areas, and in others I need plenty of work. Still believe I have a lot of potential though. We'll see.

Part of the reason why I'm typing this out now is due to a comment I read on Facebook- truly wealthy people have better things to do than hang out on Facebook. Some truth in it... it made me think about my status updates. Most of my status updates relate to how I'm doing on my goals, although I do broaden it out to a bit of social commentary occasionally. I'm commenting more on other people's posts too. But yeah, I reread my status updates and I can definitely feel how some people would think "This guy just thinks about money. He's one dimensional. Hasn't he got anything else to say...". These people don't really know me that well... but they've still got a point, to an extent. I read my other friends statuses... none are quite as relentlessly upbeat as I am, despite the fact that I have a lot of very successful 'Facebook friends' who have a lot to be proud of.

They are secure in themselves and will probably go onto achieve more victories. I hope they do- and anyway they choose to do it is fine by me.

I read a lot of Nietzsche when I was at Leeds University. Once I spent about twelve hours mindmapping Beyond Good and Evil. Incredible book.

Getting into his mind, at the end of cramming all his thoughts into my head, I thought... *pretty bad that he only got some recognition when he was sick.... and only really any number of people read his writing after he died*. Like hyenas gnawing at corpses. Chuckle, chuckle... we'll get the knowledge, you're already dead.

I told myself that I wanted some recognition whilst alive, please.

I'd recommend reading Nietzsche to people reading this... it's a tough read but it'll change your way of thinking. I don't agree with everything he says but there are plenty of gems hidden in there. One is not trying to seek the good opinion of every person...

Sometimes I look at my 'Facebook friends' list and people have gone. Sometimes some people reappear without notification too... haven't figured out how that works yet. Sometimes I wonder if it's something I've done bad to them... it isn't, but like I said before, some people don't like my tone.

You're a long time dead.

So I might as well say what's on my mind while I'm alive. I don't want people on my list who aren't happy with the way I'm reaching my goals. I had to delete two people from my list- first time in a long time I've had to do that- but they were specifically, if unintentionally, stopping me reaching my goals.

With hard men intimacy is a thing of shame - and something precious

Sometimes I send 'friend requests' to people and they don't say yes or no. Maybe they ignore it, maybe they are unsure, who knows. I usually give them about a week then I 'remove my friend request'. This is how things go down in the early twenty first century, obv. Most of the time these are people I don't know but seem interesting and it doesn't bother me that much.

Someone took the time to reject me lately though. I knew her, quite a long time ago. This was when I was first writing out goals, without really knowing how to do it. This person has reached her goals far more than I believed she would- even though back then I knew she had a lot inner strength that most people couldn't see.

Obviously I wasn't high value enough.

Just so you know I don't ONLY read German philosophers, I've also written all over a W Clement Stone book. I owned that one though, so that's more socially acceptable. He talks about inspirational dissatisfaction- how feeling totally shit is really a stepping stone on helping you improve. That angry feeling, that lost feeling, that inadequate feeling- you can turn that energy around and use it for your own advantage. I've found it to be one of the most powerful forces.

I've decided not to name the person who rejected me, for now at least. If she's reading this she'll know who she is. I'd just like you to know, you've given me a LOT of inspirational dissatisfaction. I think you're the reason I had a worldwide selling novel at the age of twenty one.

I'd like you to know I haven't even really got started yet. I'm pretty sure if you do get to read this, it'll be when I am socially considered to be 'high value'.

Make Sure You Deliver.

Of course, I know that there's the possibility I could fail. I could just end up being nothing, having achieved... well, not enough at least. I'm going to perform to the very best of my ability though and I can't see that happening. Even when I was really little I always had dreams. Things were so vivid in my head. Maybe that's why I escaped into books early... loving the images they created. No matter how much anyone has doubted me, no matter what shit situation arises, positive images always appear in my head...

Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.

Rate me on what I achieve.

Classic Post...

Do You Think George Orwell Spent Ages on a Sunbed?

So this is more a writer's article...

I slept with a girl who was trying to be a writer once. She tried her best but just lacked that assertiveness you need to make it as a writer in today's world...

Anyway after we slept together she was alright with me and everything... but suggested I get a tan...

I told her I wasn't going to spend time getting a tan.

You can argue I haven't 'made it' as a writer... I'm not getting paid for writing this... yet I think I'm a good writer... overall on writing ability in the top one or two percent anyway...

And I think true writers... when they need to it's just bread and art. They are not out there getting drunk. They are not out there trying to pick up Prada.

Hell sometimes they don't even brush their teeth.

I think it's good to be detached from consumerism so you can write more purely.

Rich People

I think when you look at some of the REALLY rich people like the richest in the world, quite a few didn't come from poor backgrounds. Bill Gates didn't, Warren Buffet didn't... all the Arab oil money... hardly poor backgrounds.

And just to explain- when I'm saying RICH I mean actually rich. Some might people call me rich but I'm not at all. I think when you get to the level of someone like Eminem or Bernard Cornwell (I chat to the latter a bit)... they're rich now, from poor backgrounds... but they don't HAVE to keep doing what they do. They do it because they love it.

Feel very focused on my goals now, pushing my comfort zone and will more. Every day is goal day- I feel like a goal machine :) £££

The Bitter End Placebo

Since we're feeling so anesthetized
In our comfort zone
Reminds me of the second time
That I followed you home
We're running out of alibis
On the second of may
Reminds me of the summertime
On this winters day
See you at the bitter end
See you at the bitter end
Every step we took that synchronized
Every broken bone
Reminds me of the second time
That I followed you home
You showered me with lullabies
Had you walking away
Reminds me that its killing time
On this fateful day
See you at the bitter end
See you at the bitter end
See you at the bitter end
See you at the bitter end
From the time we intercepted
Feels a lot like suicide
Slow and sad, getting sadder
Arise a sitting mine (see you at the bitter end)
I love to see you run around
And I can see you now
Running to me
Arms wide out
See you at the bitter end
Reach inside
Come on just gotta reach inside
Heard your cry
Six months time
Six months time (see you at the bitter end)
Prepare the end

The Futureheads Hounds of Love

When I was a child, running in the night
I was afraid of what might be
Hiding in the dark and hiding on the streets
For and of what was following me

The hounds of love are calling
I've always been a coward
And I don't know what's good for me

Well, here I go
It's coming at me through the tree
Help me, someone, help me, please
And take my shoes off
And I will throw them in the lake
And I will be two steps on the water

I found a fox, caught by dogs
He let me take him in my hands
His little heart, it beat so fast
That I am ashamed to be running away
From nothing real, I just can't deal with this
I feel ashamed to be there

Amongst your hounds of loving
I feel your arms surrounding me
I've always been a coward
And I dont know what's good for me

Watch, here I go
Don't let me go, hold me down
It's coming at me through the tree
Help me, someone, help me, please
I don't know what's good for me
I don't know what's good for me
Do you know what I need, do you know what I need?
I need a yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, oh

Take my shoes off
And I will throw them in the lake
And I will be two steps on the water
Ooh, I know, I know, I know
I don't know what's good for me
I don't know what's good for me
Do you know what I need, do you know what I need?
I need a yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
I need a he-yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

2019 Goal Review

So...

Let's get right into the goal review...

Financial Goal

10/10. Done this... you're only getting the public version for now... high value people who've added value may get private version :)

Done this with consistent focus throughout the year. Pretty much EVERY DAY did things to get money.

Decent overall year for share performance. A few mistakes though, always room for improvement.

There have been a few times where I've have money in effect stolen from me. Rest assured that I know the people who've done that and it's not a good idea for them. Again... more info for high value people in private, I don't like people being scammed so I will share the names of the people in private... and potentially take more action.

Anyone can say anything when it comes to money but anyone can't DO everything. I've got plenty of good people in my life now yet have to trust my instincts and not taking any shit from anyone... which brings me onto the next goal..

Mutual Fulfillment With High Value People 7.8/10

So...

Overall quite pleased with this.

Let's blast things out that have been on my mind...

Chris Bailey is the only person I could really call a mentor this year. He's still as dedicated to shares as ever, globetrotting around the orb like some kind of capitalist fanatic ;)

He is quite happy to boast about all the countries he's been to... that I haven't been to...

I do want to travel more as it lets you think more and gives you new perspectives. As long as I reach my financial goal I will do... money is worthless when you're dead...

I'll always check with him before buying a share as he's right most of the time... although he's not perfect! I think I sold Whitbread at the right time this year when he didn't for example...

I've got a good close 'team' of people I chat to about share advice though so combine that with my instincts and I should continue to get good results... I have people who ask me for 'share help' quite a lot now too...

Remember... I will do this as long as there's mutual value... sometimes I'm too nice.

Will give a quick mention to Dean Staveley. Most of the year I was working for him... good in some ways, I aimed to give as much value as possible. Looking back there's only a few things I would have changed... interesting experience overall yet we both should probably have been in the office more. I'm not working for him now and have a new job with an interesting company... we'll see how that goes.

Quick mention to Liz Baitson too... she's been very nice and supportive to me! Glad to see she's doing well in property. Although I've spent a fair bit of time on property in 2019 I haven't actually bought a house or invested... but with someone of her quality I might well do. I wish property was easier to invest in... so I'm not certainly going to do it but may well do in some form in 2020. It's easy to see people in property who provide good value and I wish Liz success for this in 2020!

I still have to push my comfort zone more to meet more high quality people in real life though and this will be a focus for 2020.

Health and Fitness 6/10

Again, points for no drink drugs etc...

Seriously do have to work on this though. When the weather is decent there is NO EXCUSE for not going for a quick walk every day. So I'll make myself do this- in fact going to do a quick walk today. Going to make myself eat less shit too, want to lose some weight. Going to be more focus on this and less on money in 2020.
