Making the Right Decision Now
The first quote I got was 961. Hmm... not a bad price I thought... but it had been 960. I decided to buy if it got to about 960 again.
I had already won one of my biggest pots in poker for a long time... partly by being patient and waiting for a chance I guess. I started playing another poker tourn as well at the same time as stalking.
I cashed in that poker tourn at the same time as checking the share price.
But the BG price kept creeping up. I started getting a bit annoyed at myself for not making the decision before. Because part of the thoughts in my mind was... it's worth a bit of my time to getting it at a slightly lower price than 961.
But then I started thinking more logically. BG is going to get taken over by Shell- this will be confirmed in the meeting tomorrow. This should mean that all other things being equal the price will rise over the day. I had a feeling the price would spike right at the end of the day.
I ended up buying 976.
They're 991 already today. If you're not a share investor basically what will happen with buying BG (British Gas) at this price is you'll get about a 10% return on your money. In one month. Then you'll get Shell shares which will go up over time too.
What have I got out this?
Probably that it's good to get the right logical framework and then make a good quick instinctive decision. A good life can be made up of making many right decisions at the right time.
I think with shares you can like pick up good ideas from research... but then it's about executing those ideas at the right time at the right price.
All you can do is make the right decision in the moment you're in now.
Secondly that I might actually do more 'shorter term' trading. It's something Chris Bailey suggested to me. It'd be a new skillset in a way but I could learn it. All that matters in shares is how much money you make.
Thanks for reading and super pleased we're above FIFTY TWO THOUSAND now!
Bought BG today for a quick profit... hit me up with job offers world! Will be ringing up after poker.

Howitt Share Team
I kind of think of myself and my shares as a 'team' in a way. I haven't sold any shares for over nine years. Nice and quick for you to read that sentence, but over nine years is a LONG time and very few investors haven't sold any shares in over nine years.
Sometimes some members of the 'team' go through bad periods. I bought some BT at 89p when they were having a bad time. They're now 484.5p.
Some LGEN were bought for 36.88. They're now 240.
Many members of my team today have gone up by about 4 or 5 percent... in one day.
I do believe that a lot of my team members will rise from here in the future. And I'm prepared to give them time to win.

Very good day/recovery for shares today. Up about £2000. Poker going well too.

Can I Manage a Six Figure Share Porftolio And Do a Job?
One thing that sometimes comes up in interviews (probably if the employer is 'not sure' about me) is the fact that I have a six figure share portfolio. A few have been like... but can you really manage that and do a job?
I don't think the other candidates for the job have a six figure share portfolio. The interviewers aren't share investors.
The answer is... YES I CAN. I am a long term buy and hold share investor. That means it's up to me to spend as much time or as little time as I like on my shares.
I'd like to say WELL DONE to the good companies I've worked for (some of the best in Britain) who know that I can do sales jobs (for example) AND manage my portfolio. Personally I think it would be a plus to have a candidate who'd accumulated that much money... and was keen on getting more. Sure anyone can say they're 'money hungry'... but a lot of salespeople are too impulsive with their money and will never get rich.
Anyway I'll be ringing some more jobs up today!
Tuesday, 19 January 2016
Spoken to a lot of recruiters today and will probably do so tomorrow. Want an interesting job asap... as well as being a share investor with a 6 figure portfolio :)
Quick tip for recruiters- I don't even have to send you my CV! It's all on my LinkedIn. If it's an interesting job I'll still send it though.
People Lie AKA Gage Masterson Lies to Mark Howitt
I think it's good I'm doing it while in a nice mood since shares up over £1000 today.
I've been thinking how much people lie recently. It's quite a lot. A 'typical person' must lie several times a day.
How much does it cost to lie? Nothing.
For about 7 years now to people I like and as much as possible I've been trying to say what's on my mind as much as possible and not lie. I mean there may be times where someone's asked me for some exact info sometimes and it's been slightly inaccurate- you could call that a lie but it might be worth saving the time to getting it largely accurate. Those kind of 'lies' are ok.
And there might be other times where it's 'ok' to lie aka if you were saving a good person's life for example.
But some people will just lie because they feel like it. Think Violet Rowan. And unfortunately think Gage Masterson.
In 2014 I was pretty keen aka desperate for a job. I was offered one by Gage. Looking back it's interesting to see he offered it on a self employed basis at first. But later he agreed to pay me. Only he didn't- I worked about 7 days for free and spent other time worrying about it.
Anyway, can't change the past and hopefully this will be a warning to others. It's like when you google Craig Joyce now in google you see the first thing that comes up is his assault on me. Maybe this will be near the top for Gage too.
So when you're talking or negotiating with someone remember THEY COULD BE LYING. Some people won't blatantly lie but some will. If you know the person has a 'good reputation' or hasn't lied to you before you could conclude there's less chance of them lying. But they still could. Remember to focus on concrete things like how soon you will get money when working for them.

You Only Get So Much Of High Value People's Time
But let's get right into it and blast out another post.
I rang up Christopher Watkins today, he's a property expert. We chatted for just over 5 minutes... and then I was ready to go because I didn't want to take up too much of his time. In those 5 mins I got a lot of great advice that I will implement. I didn't even want to take up his time until I had actioned his ideas.
I've just been talking to another very smart guy. Difference here is I first met him over 11 years ago. He has VERY HIGH social intelligence, one of the highest I know. I tried to get a poker person to interview him once and he was like... no. I asked him if he knew other poker people. He did. But those kind of poker people would want £300 an hour for an interview.
We talked for about an hour then he had to go.
You Only Get So Much Of High Value People's Time
Value can be a relative term. I guess it depends on your view. There are some people that others would view as valuable that I would not at all. Even with my sister's wedding... if I hadn't been paid the £10 in petrol I would not have gone. But it turned out to be an ok investment of time.
So what you can take from this is... if you're speaking to a high value person make sure you ask GOOD QUESTIONS then action what they say to you.
Section of The Tenancy Agreement Broken By the Rowan Family
3.5 The Tenant must not keep any pets or other animals at the Property without the prior written consent of the Landlord which must not be unreasonably withheld or delayed. If permission is given, it may be given on the condition that the Tenant pays an additional reasonable amount towards the deposit.

Buy to Let Research
These are some examples of Newbury Walk and are indicative of the standard I will aim to achieve of any house I let. For more examples just search Newbury Walk in search bar. Improvements actually have been made to Newbury Walk since these pictures have been taken. The list of improvements made to Newbury Walk includes a new number plate at the front of the house, two rooms painted, bath fixed, new lightbulbs and lampshades and trimming of trees and bushes. The rent for new tenants will be around £525 a month.

Shares Not Being Open Has Been Making Me a Bit Bored... But Back to Normal Soon!
True though.
I actually feel good about my portfolio. Will be getting Sainsbury's dividends on Monday. I think 2016 will be a good year... even if I don't buy any more shares. I do have plans though which I believe will be profitable. Warren Buffet is still learning and improving into his eighties... I'm 32. Quite surreal that nearly 100,000 people have read my writing on ShareProphets alone though. I go into 2016 with more knowledge than ever and good contacts I chat to on twitter every day. There's no hiding place since the world knows my portfolio but I really do think I'll make good money with shares in 2016!
