GM Keith Arkell
I honestly do spend too much time on chess yet feel moved to write this...
Based on seeing Keith Arkell in person briefly when I was 15 and following his results I do believe he should be included in the England over 50s team.
Sadly it often seems that OTB team selection, at many levels, does not come down to player strength but whether some selectors LIKE the player.....
Even when I was 15 I asked an older player in person why Keith Arkell wasn't in the main England team "HIs face doesn't fit" was the answer.......
Overall seems to me that Keith Arkell is a good team player as well as producing very good senior results. I will actually make this a public post on my blog https://markhowitt.blogspot.com/ as well.

Taxpayer Grant/Rebate
This is slightly breaking my rule of no chess posts today- yet interesting to see the government/taxpayer rebate has been given to a number of places fairly near to me. As I reported earlier I haven't recieved any of this yet however for a small amount of this I can contibute more publicity and play more chess myself!

Why is The Beginner Market for Chess Huge?
There are over 7 billion people in the world. New people are born everyday. New people could want to learn chess every day.
So when you've got a LOT of experience teaching chess you can teach those with not much experience. And for sure as an INVESTMENT of time and the learning experience for them it's worth it- smart people get this.
Personally I wouldn't even have to improve as a chessplayer just to teach beginners. And that's understandable because say someone books an hour of coaching with me....
For all beginner players I can teach concepts that took me MANY HOURS to learn. And it can take quite a bit of practice to learn them- I know this from the experience of teaching beginners.
Ideally my goals with chess are much more than that- and of course I have done much more. Like write a worldwide selling novel which isn't JUST about chess... it uses chess as a metaphor for inward and outward struggle......
And I've been to many interesting places to play chess....... second most popular sport in world remember.......

So...
Early monring blast...
Some smart people will already get this....... yet think it's worth SPELLING OUT...
So most posts lately have been stream of consciousness... literally me just saying what's on my mind...
Because I like to do that...
However why won't MOST people write....... even though they maybe could or they will do it in a more private way? Why don't I try and spend more time writing for PHYSICAL BOOKS?
A lot of people are reticent or SCARED to express their thoughts to the world. They might worry what people think about it etc. I'm not. The elite writers aren't.
Say you try and write for a physical book...... how long is that going to take and how many people are going to read it? Answer...... quite a long time and probably not that many. Ideally I might write for a physical book as well as an ebook in future....... but we'll see.
In this modern age.......
When you write on the internet anyone from ALL OVER the WORLD could see it. So sure maybe some people in Huddersfield....... it doesn't reasonate with them........
But with some smart people in CANADA it does. Honestly sometimes it surprises me the elite winners I have on facebook etc. When you PUT YOURSELF OUT THERE FOR THE WORLD you can learn more and connect with winners.
The writing can be there forever too. And it helps you to look back on your memories sometimes.
Final point before I blast out- you can't JUST be a writer typing on the internet. You have to be aware of the world and make yourself go out and experience the world. This is a different skillset from writing...... yet very important.
